Your Questions Answered

We have endeavoured to pre-empt most of your initial questions in the section below. If you have further questions or need a specific response, please contact us here.

All purchases include a full consultation process which includes video conference calls, CAD drawings and site visits. Each system is manufactured and calibrated on a bespoke basis.

What is the purpose of the Pathogen Reduction System?

The Pathogen Reduction System© – PRS, a pro-active building management tool, a preventative installation, which enables building owners to be confident that they have done everything possible to make their environment ‘Covid Secure’. By de-activating 99.99% of Covid-19 and other pathogens within their air handing system, PRS ensures your air supply is safe and helps to protect a building’s occupants now and also in the future.

A PRS installation is suitable for both new builds and retrospective fitting.

How does the PRS work?

With the PRS installation, all the air within a building that circulates through the air handling system is passed through our optical cavity which bombards this air with high intensity UVC 254nm light, from 360˚. This deactivates 99.99% of COVID-19 and other pathogens including MRSA, TB and Measles, ensuring your air supply to the building is safe.

How will this make the building environment safer?

By deactivating pathogens within the air handling system, the overall level of pathogens within the building is significantly reduced.  A well-designed air management system will be changing the air inside a building many times each hour, with each change of air being processed through the PRS unit, and pathogens being deactivated, the inside air is continuously diluted with pathogen free air helping to make the environment safer.

We see PRS is an essential and additional layer of defence against COVID-19 and other harmful airborne pathogens which can reduce the risk of infection in indoor spaces. Installing PRS means you are doing everything you can to keep people safe now and in the future.

How does it fit into my existing ventilation system?

PRS is designed to work with your existing ventilation system, our experienced building services professionals will survey your building in cooperation with your engineering department, to determine exactly what is best for your building.

Each Pathogen Reduction system is built bespoke to your system, designed to suit your specific needs, whether it is a large duct situated in AHU plant-rooms or smaller ducts from MVHR units.

UVC levels are calculated for the individual need of each installation, taking into account the required deactivation %, ducting size, air volumes and speed of air within your system. This enables us to build the best system for you.

Are there any detrimental effects on my ventilation system?

No. The impact of PRS on the airflow of your ventilation system is negligible.

As the optical cavity is a bespoke build, it will fit perfectly into your system. The UVC panels of light are positioned on the perimeter just outside the normal airflow so it will operate exactly as it did prior to the PRS installation. This allows you to benefit from the economic and environmental benefits that your air handling system has always provided.

What are the implications on my business if I do not install the PRS?

In the UK, industry advisory bodies such as HSE and CIBSE have advised buildings to operate with 100% fresh air and no recirculation. Typically, HVAC systems operate on 80% recycled air, so such a change in operation causes significant problems. Whilst 100% fresh air reduces the opportunity for pathogens to spread, it could lead to a 3-fold increase in fuel consumption (as boilers struggle to heat cold air), as well as a significant degradation of your plant equipment if your systems are not upgraded.

These higher costs could be greater than the investment required to install and operate our technology. With PRS you protect your staff and visitors from COVID-19 and you are able to operate your HVAC systems as you did before the pandemic.

Why PRS?

PRS is the only system on the market that is totally bespoke, providing you with a system that meets the exact requirements of any building.

In additional to this, PRS is the only system on the market that operates with our, optical cavity, which uses higher levels of UVC light than any other system on the market. In turn, this UVC level is further maximised due to the cavity’s advanced reflective capabilities and it is the only system that targets pathogens from 360˚ increasing its effectiveness even further.

How do you monitor the system?

We offer three levels of monitoring:

  1. A basic status on the control panel
  2. A healthy or fault status to each lighting box
  3. A fully integrated system status with BMS
Where is PRS manufactured?

All of our PRS units are manufactured in the UK.

What are the maintenance requirements?

A two-year maintenance contract is included as standard at purchase, but bespoke arrangements can be made. Please note that lamps within the system will need to be replaced everyone to two years depending on run times.

Can we view the system in operation before purchasing?

Yes. Please contact us via the Contact Form to arrange a viewing.
